Intentional movement to inspire compassion

Updated: Jun 27, 2022

I believe that good things emerge from hard times. Shadows don’t materialize in the absence of light; they are cast from objects that are in the path of light. When something obstructs the light from where we stand, we must reposition ourselves to receive it. A result of the pandemic (obstacle) for me was discovering virtual connections on Insight Timer and Dalai Lama webcasts (finding a new path to the light). I was reminded of a favorite Dalai Lama quote of mine, “pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.” We discussed this theme last week and I feel compelled to revisit it from a new perspective. Rather than focus on how to heal the body through our emotional response to discomfort, let’s find ways to use movement to guide our thoughts and emotions.

The conscious mind wants to steer us, and it’s not always easy to quiet. This week we'll focus on how intentional movement can help us tap into the present moment, quiet the mind, and unearth our unconscious wisdom. If you are finding yourself caught up in emotion right now, you are not alone. Join me this week to connect with others in cultivating compassion, kindness, and courage.
