I've been trying to scout out the perfect spot for leading practice while I am away. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it but the show must go on! There will likely be barking dogs, which means it is a good time to practice Pratyahara.
Did you know that there are 8 limbs of yoga? Yoga is a wisdom tradition, not just what we do while we are on the mat. Asana (posture) is one of these 8 limbs and includes the physical practice most people think of when they think "yoga." Pratyahara is another limb and translates to "withdrawal." I'm not sure about you, but I can't recall a day where I haven't been distracted. Finding ways to practice disengaging from external stimuli and tuning into ourselves is a useful practice. Serenity in savasana in the midst of sound is a great place to start:)
I look forward to your participation in our classes on Pratyahara this week!
